Extended oil changes do not void warranties. A warranty remains in force for a period designated by time or mileage, period. If a warranty claim is made during that period, a member of the dealership service staff or a representative of the manufacturer will examine the affected part and make a determination as to the cause of malfunction or failure. If the malfunction or failure cannot be directly attributed to the practice of extended oil drain intervals, then the practice of extending drain intervals cannot be found responsible for the warranty claim and has no bearing on the claim.
